    Freshwater or marine fish, which is right for me?
    Freshwater aquariums are the classic and usually more straightforward choice for beginners. They allow for a huge variety of plants, fish and shrimp. Marine aquariums are fascinating thanks to colourful corals and tropical marine life, but they require a little more technical knowledge, patience and a higher budget for both setup and ongoing maintenance.

    How big should my first aquarium be?
    Surprisingly, when starting out, bigger is often easier. Small nano aquariums under 30 litres react very sensitively to even the smallest changes in water conditions. An aquarium between 60 and 120 litres offers a more stable biological balance, is more forgiving of small everyday care mistakes and gives you far more options when choosing your aquarium inhabitants.

    Should I buy a complete set or choose everything separately?
    If you want to get started quickly and easily, a complete aquarium set is ideal, as the filter, lighting, and often the heater are already perfectly matched to the tank. However, if you have a very specific layout in mind, for example, for aquascaping, or want to install high-end equipment, you may be better off choosing a separate aquarium tank and selecting the individual components yourself.
